Spirt in training

Hey there, friends! My name is Spirit, and I’m a proud resident of this beautiful ranch where my trainer, Mykal, and I work together. Let me tell you, life as a horse can be pretty amazing—especially when you’ve got someone like Mykal to guide you.

I’ll admit, I’ve always had a bit of a rebellious streak. Who doesn’t enjoy a good frolic or a mischievous little nudge now and then? But lately, Mykal has been teaching me something new: how to channel all that energy into being a better teammate. And guess what? It’s actually a lot of fun!

At first, I wasn’t so sure about all these exercises and routines. Mykal would ask me to do things like walk in circles, trot on command, or even stand perfectly still. (Standing still? How boring, right?) But then, I started to notice something. Every time I got it right, Mykal’s face would light up, and I’d get a pat, a kind word, or sometimes even a treat. It turns out, working with humans is pretty rewarding.

Mykal has this amazing way of being both firm and kind. They never get mad when I mess up, but they don’t let me get away with slacking off either. They’re teaching me that teamwork isn’t just about following commands—it’s about trust. I trust that Mykal knows what’s best for me, and Mykal trusts that I’ll give my best effort in return.

We’ve been practicing all kinds of things lately: walking side by side, responding to gentle cues, and even some fancy footwork (which I’m pretty good at, if I do say so myself). The best part is how connected I feel to Mykal during these sessions. It’s like we’re speaking the same language, even without words.

I’ve learned that being less rebellious doesn’t mean losing my personality. It means finding new ways to shine and show how smart and capable I am. Mykal sees the best in me, and together, we’re becoming an incredible team.

So here’s my advice to all my fellow horses out there: don’t be afraid to let your human friends teach you new things. Sure, it might seem a little weird at first, but trust me, it’s worth it. You might just discover that working together is the most fun you’ve ever had.
