“Donkey”

Hello there! My name is, well… “Donkey”. I know, I know—nothing too fancy. But don’t worry, I’ll come back to that.

I found myself at Lee's Pony Therapy by pure chance, but maybe it was just meant to be. You see, not too long ago, I was wandering around in the high desert, stranded and lost. I’m not exactly sure how I ended up there, but I do remember the roses—beautiful, tasty roses that I couldn’t resist munching on while hanging out in some kind stranger’s yard. Thankfully, that family didn’t mind too much. In fact, they called the good folks who rescue equines, and soon enough, I was on my way to this magical place called Lee's Pony Therapy.

Now, let me tell you, I’m not a horse, and I was a bit nervous about that at first. I didn’t know if I’d fit in with all these beautiful, majestic equines. I may not have their long, flowing manes or their noble frames, but you know what? They welcomed me with open hooves! From day one, I was treated just like family, and my fellow rescues have shown me the ropes of life here. They’ve even taught me a thing or two about what it means to work with humans, especially the kind, gentle people who come to Lee's for therapy.

At first, I wasn’t sure what to think of humans. Sure, some gave me treats, and some gave me scratches in just the right places, but I still felt a little unsure around them. I guess it takes time to trust, right? But these folks are different. They’re patient, kind, and they understand that it takes time for a guy like me to open up. Each day, I feel a bit braver, and I think I might just be getting the hang of this whole “therapy donkey” thing.

The humans here keep calling me “Donkey,” which I guess works… but maybe, just maybe, I’m ready for a real name. It feels like time, don’t you think?

Until then, I’m just your friendly neighborhood Donkey, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. 🐾
